Gavriil and Yeva, two strangers who happened to meet by chance, both travelling together, on the same train, in the same cabin, but really with not much to talk about. But when their train derails in the middle of nowhere, they're suddenly forced to work together. Gavriil wakes up alone in a cold, pitch-black cave—his leg missing, and Yeva claiming she saved his life. There’s no sign of rescue. No way to call for help ... This was supposed to be just a short vacation.

Vacation Terminal is a short 2D Psychological thriller, horror and survival based visual novel with evading based puzzle elements. Following the story of two strangers, Gavriil and Yeva, who suddenly find themselves stranded in the snowy wilderness after a brutal train crash. To survive, they must put trust each in each other and lean on the hope for eventual rescue.

This was a game originally made for the 2025 yandere  game jam which ran for a month, but we didn't make it and decided to just develop it as a separate project.

This is the first game I have ever developed and written, so the mechanics, and storytelling might feel a little off, but I'm still pretty happy with the fact I was able to finish this with the help of many wonderful people, as listed above, please check them all out! Comments and feedback are also very much appreciated btw!!

Vacation Terminal is the perfect example of how a short visual novel can hook you and not let go! The gothic-manga art style is pure delight: sprites, CG, and backgrounds create a creepy, hypnotic atmosphere. The story is a psychological thriller with survival elements and multiple endings, full of tension that makes you doubt every choice (no spoilers!). The music masterfully builds horror, perfectly blending with the narrative. In an hour of gameplay, it's pure bliss, a top-notch quality indie product. 10/10, must-play for fans of the genre!

Ahah I'm so glad that you were able to enjoy the game so much, I'm a little flustered reading this, thank you for leaving your thoughts after playing!!

i just finished the game (plugged when i asked for horror recs on reddit) and i really liked the concept! the music was good and the way the protagonists talked to each other made me uncomfortable AND left me scrambling for what to answer when dialogue options became available.

my only feedback would be that the pacing was a bit rushed with it starting off really slow and rushing very suddenly, which didn't give the player much time to piece anything together by themselves. i do like how it wasn't super overexplained tho, and overall thought it was well done for something short

i got ending 2 and it was nice to watch gavriil and yeva grapple w their hates to need something x needs to be needed and the implications of that going on longterm. tbh i just think there's so much to explore with the characters' psyches and dynamics i think i could theorize about them forever lol

im dying to know the other two endings also lmao

overall, i enjoyed it, didn't feel like it dragged, and think it's really good for a first game + id definitely love to play more of them if that's ever a project in the future (especially if it's an extended version of this story)

thank you for sharing :)

Glad to hear you enjoyed your experience so far! I definitely agree with the pacing issue, which has been brought up as one of the main weaknesses of the story by quite a few people (myself included but I'm too tired to fix it atp lol), I will definitely take it into account for any future projects I work on though.

I'm also really happy that you enjoyed Gavriil and Yeva as characters so much that you want more content of them, though I don't think I am planning on a sequel for this particular game, as this was more of an experimental thing for me.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to play Vacation Terminal, feel free to share some of your theories if you'd like haha, I'm curious about how other people perceive my characters.

Hallo! For anyone interested, I did a live-dubbed and commentated playthrough of this game, which I'll link below. I do encourage you to play it yourself!

As a surface review, I would say that this was an unnerving experience from start to finish. I'd attribute that to the protagonists' negative chemistry lol. They always seem to be more talking at each other, than with each other, and it creates an uncomfortable atmosphere throughout. With each passing day, it only worsens as the stakes grow and major events starts to happen. While the story does lead down where you expect it to (not a bad thing), the desire to keep the protagonist alive makes each decision you come across into a moment where you really have to think carefully about the short-term and long-term consequences. That said, the pacing does hasten quickly, but it's befitting a shorter story like this - no less a fever-dream journey. It adds a franticness that captures the fear of how everything starts to blur in a survival setting. Had it been longer, it would've greatly benefitted from a change in setting and structure, but it works for what it is.

As for a deeper, spoiler-filled review (begone if you haven't played it), I think the biggest question this game asks is how much faith are you willing to place in a stranger who's got you in a precarious position. How do you navigate someone who is effectively in control of you? What do you say? How do you say it?  How do you piece together the truth of their actions without giving it away that you're onto them? How do you deal with the consequences of that? Especially when they seem plenty experienced with what's going on. Though as my chat pointed out, maybe the lesson is, don't talk to women when they make it clear they don't want to talk to you! LOL

Y'never know when you'll end up prey to someone's sick fetish(?) or become a stand-in for their traumatic guilt. Props to Gavriil for always keeping it real. Even though he starts as a friendly, trustworthy guy, he's also portrayed realistically with his darker thoughts regarding Yeva's mysterious nature, and his circumstances. It's sad to say that ending 2 unfortunately feels like what would actually happen, even though ending 3 grants him a better one. Stockholm syndrome is a hell of a drug, and Yeva knows exactly how to trauma-bond with him. I'm left curious as to what becomes of them thereafter, and how exactly Yeva's past brought her to this point - and his, too. Great potential to explore all that if you want to expand on this story!

Either way, the writing has caught my attention as much as the writing initially did. It overall feels like I stumbled onto a back-link forbidden flash game, which is a uniquely cool and nostalgic sensation to be induced. The CGs and animations were greatly chilling, especially when combined with the detailed writing of them. The poor rescuer... and my senses reading that... Best of luck with what comes next for this project's success and future endeavors!

Thank you for putting in the time to write such a detailed comment about your overall thoughts on Vacation Terminal after your play through!!! This is very flattering and very much appreciated!

Pretty cool game, was a little confused as to why some of it was slow and then like day 3 (i think it was day 3, cant really remember) was so fast, the ending was way too abrupt, also not exactly sure what was going on most of the time, yeva was being kind and for some reason gavriil was being rude? not too sure. 8/10 tho, weldone to the artists and writers! ~ Jordz1Gamer

Thank you for playing! As for the pacing inconsistencies that is my fault, I'm not great at this since this is my first time writing for a visual novel, but I'm glad you were still able to enjoy the game despite that.

I just finished it, the game got me really thinking and wondering what the outcomes would be like. I just Ending 2 on my first playthrough, ill try to achieve the other 2 endings

Thanks for playing! If you finish the other endings and have any extra thoughts on it, feel free to speak up!

ive just finished the game n have to write a comment right away! i really love ur artstyle n coloring, its unique n gothic n reminds me of the manga gods child n liar game (ur artstyle isnt much alike, but i think it gives of the same gud vibe). yeva is a real beauty ugh she looks like a goddess! (r they russian?). also, im a bit interested in psychology, so i think as a nurse, n with her exp w the previous patient, yeva has savior/caretaker complex n munchausen syndrome by proxy (w dependency obsessive, too) poor gavriil ;( just after finished playing that i notice the pic where yeva pulling his leg :< overall, i love the game so so much!!! ty for this amazing experience!

Hello, I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the game, and yess! The game is set in 90s Russia, Gavriil's also from Russia, but Yeva's family comes from Ukraine.

Also I didn't think anybody was gonna notice or at least point out the little foreshadowing on the cover art lol.

If you're interested in more of the character's information there's a lil wiki abt them and the game you can check it out if you're still curious abt more!!
